ArtCenter/Williamson Gallery
Founded in 1930, ArtCenter College of Design is a global leader in art and design education. Its conservatory-like approach is based upon a desire for rich, intercultural and transdisciplinary dialogue, along with a mandate to provide innovative learning and making spaces. The college offers eleven undergraduate and seven graduate degrees emphasizing analytical, humanitarian, ecological, and sustainable design solutions to planetary needs. ArtCenter's 4,600 square-foot Williamson Gallery produces three major exhibitions per year, and is nationally recognized for its exhibitions fusing science and astronomy with contemporary art and cultural history. The gallery's mission is to be an active partner in the education of spirited students who will help forge our material future, and to engage the public in a progressive dialogue about art, science, and design for the 21st century. It seeks to leverage the unique ability of visual culture to resonate deeply, provoke intellectual dissonance, and conjure unexpected pathways of thinking.
